Makanyane has a number of hides where guests may relax and watch animals and birds going about their lives.

One hide has a breathtaking view across a wide expanse of savannah, the sweeping view of the grasslands is encircled by distant hills. Enjoy a quiet drink while watching elephants stride through herds of waterbuck, zebra and impala grazing quietly under the vast African sky. You may even see lion or cheetah moving through the grass, their vigilant stare searching for their next meal.

Another hide overlooks a secluded waterhole where elephants and other animals come down to quench their thirst and wallow in the cool mud. Alternatively, lounge by the lodge's swimming pool, high above a stream-fed waterhole and wait for the animals and birds to come down to the water.
